One click. No bash.
Pick OpenClaw from the Contabo application installer and start from a known-good baseline. No yak-shaving.
A short, straightforward field guide to installing the OpenClaw agent on a Contabo VPS, wiring it into chat, and getting on with your life. Twenty minutes. One coffee. Zero weekends sacrificed.
OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent. Contabo's installer treats it as a one-click app — which is the entire difference between an afternoon and a weekend. The agent is free; the VPS and your model are not. Both are cheap.
Pick OpenClaw from the Contabo application installer and start from a known-good baseline. No yak-shaving.
A small cloud VPS keeps the agent awake when your laptop is shut, asleep, or at the bottom of a backpack.
You pick the model, the channels, the permissions. The API keys and the logs live on a box you control.
Have these within reach and the install is a 20-minute affair, not a Saturday. Missing one? Fix it now — the installer won't wait politely.
Use our Contabo link and choose any VPS or VDS plan that supports application installs. Smaller plans are fine to start — you can size up later without losing data.
In the Customer Panel → Servers & Hosting → open your VPS → click Install → switch to Application Installation → select OpenClaw. If the server is already provisioned, the action shows as Reinstall.

Once the install finishes, connect over SSH. Onboarding may start automatically; if it doesn't, run the command and pick QuickStart for the easiest first pass.

Three things to try, in order. The first warms up the install. The second keeps you out of the doghouse on billing day. The third is just good manners.
A low-stakes prompt that exercises the model, the network, and your confidence in the install all at once.
Contabo's bill is fixed; the model bill is not. Check your provider's dashboard before leaving any long experiments running.
Don't hand it deletion, purchases, or production automation until you trust the permissions you've granted.
Twenty minutes from now you could be saying hi to your own self-hosted assistant — and we'll get a small cut from Contabo if you use the link. That's it. That's the deal.
